"JAMIE EASTER came over on Monday afternoon Feb 21, 2011 we both had the day off because of the snow here in Detroit we were going to work on the TEXTURES movie that Jamie was making and on the way over, because of the snow, he helped a bunch of people that were stuck and then he snow-blowed some folks out (he happened to have a snowblower in the back of his truck) so when he got here his boots and socks were all wet so I gave him a pair of my socks and we put his wet socks on the radiator to dry. Well when we were done working on TEXTURES and it was time to leave I said "here are your socks" but Jamie didn't take them instead he left wearing my socks so now I'm trying to sell his socks that he left here to recoup the money I paid for the socks he left wearing. It was a good pair too first I tried to give him a red woven pair but he didn't like them so I found another that he approved of then he left so these are his crusty old socks that got crispy on the radiator. We read, we listened and we watched. Our decision to vote for these folks for City Council is based on their actions and interviews with regard to: 1) environmental justice, 2) intolerance of business corruption and political corruption in Detroit, 3) innovative ideas or vision that considers financial sustainability and livability. We scored each category 0 to 3.
Each candidate listed here got the highest mark in at least one of these categories and didn’t fail any category. For example candidate JL Dearing is not listed because he miserably failed all three criteria. We are surprised that certain candidates didn’t make our list -- they scored low because they too often didn’t directly answer the questions that were posed to them in interviews and debates and received zeros then.
None of them are perfect, and unfortunately most candidates will not acknowledge a need to reign in spending with regard to city employee numbers (downsizing), low productivity and extreme benefits (compare to private sector).

Vote Yes on S, because based on his progress in rooting out corruption at DPS we believe that Robert Bobb has devised a plan that may secure the future of Detroit Public Schools. According to Bobb’s plan, Proposal S yes will allow use of Federal loaned funds to resize and rehab some schools and build some new ones in locations selected to meet the changed needs of the changed city population. Moreover, this will not increase city income or property taxes, and it will create jobs (however not forever).

Vote Yes on D, introducing council by district… we believe that everyone, not just big spenders, should have a chance to personally know a person representing them on council from their own city-district or neighborhood. The change to elect most of the council members by district will make that and greater accountability to constituents a possibility.

Please call your Congresswoman, Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, and ask her why she is giving the Ambassador Bridge Company our hard-earned money, our tax dollars. Cheeks Kilpatrick has asked for $3,000,000 to be paid to the Detroit Port Authority for the reconstruction of Clark and Fort Streets to accommodate truck traffic. The Port of Detroit is run by the Ambassador Bridge Company, and the relocation of Fort Street is not for the benefit of our community. These projects only serve to make billions of dollars of income for the Ambassador Bridge Company.

Meanwhile, our children are developing asthma and we are all being choked out of our community by increased truck traffic and emissions. Southwest Detroit deserves respect form those who do business here.

some thingz had to be cut including talk of many upcoming ufo live MUSIK EVENTS , possible ufo ART SHOWS (deborah kashidan , 4x8x5 , fight ! , feelin' green, and more) . and discussion of other more over looked art forms like community activism ,raw food preparation, and the fact that ufo factory has a new divison called U.F.F.F.O. (aliccia and chad are heading up a group that does catch and release spay/neutering w/ feral cats in the city ). oh and plus what about groupies ? detroit rockers and artists , respect and support the groupie's , they rule and support the community, truly helping making advances in the arts . it's an oft overlooked artform , NEW DETROIT has some good ones, I AM SERIOUS .

while it's true that i'm am all about flowers, light , and positive energy these days , i did also mention some of the "dark arts". our city has a rich cultural history in negativity thats alive 'n kickin . some folks simply delight in gossip and slandering others , art really is about doing something that makes yoo feel good about yrself right ?? whatever it takes , yoo know ? let's not forget those so bereft of their own art that they live in an alternate reality where taking up lawsuits against nice folks who have talent to spare is a valid means of expression . can't come up w/ yr own ideas ? no problem, sue your pals and claim ownership of their art. or the lowest common denominator of artistry, retalitory vandalism , break a window for art if yoo have to , right ? got nuthin' offer , that's ok try to send a shard of glass into yr friends unsuspecting skull. ufo factory has always been a supporter of nature's deepest shade of red , good ol' fashioned AMERICAN BLOOD be it real or fake it's always glorious. YOO ALL KNOW WHO YOO ARE AND IF YR READING THIS ,STOP IT! put some of that energy into doing something useful, really yoo'll thank yrself eventually.
